Golf...

Five minutes’ drive from the mill is the excellent golf course at Ponte de Lima (www.golfe-pontedelima.com). The golf course is signposted from the main roundabout on the way into Ponte de Lima. It is a championship course of 6005 metres with par of 71 and is suitable for amateur and professional golfers. The golf course was designed by brothers Daniel and David Silva and is made up of two runs of 9 holes with the start and finish in the club house.

The restaurant at the club house is also well worth a visit for golfers and non-golfers alike.

There is also an challenging course available around 40 minutes’ drive away on the coast at Povoa de Varzim. The Golf Club Estela (www.estelagolf.pt) offers a course that stretches over almost 6,300 metres with a par of 72, a 72.7 Course Rating and a 131 Slope Rating. Some holes have wonderful views over the Atlantic while facing forward and over the mountains while facing backwards.

There is a third course worth a visit at Amarante (www.amarantegolfclube.com) still only around an hour and half’s drive from the mill. Amarante itself is a charming town with a beautiful 10th century bridge spanning the Tamega River. The 18 hole course stretches 5060 metres and is par 68. It was designed by Jorge Santana de Silva and is surrounded by views of the mountains.
